Triedro

Triedro is a patented three-dimensional system for industrialised civil construction, aimed at the residential, commercial and office sectors. Used in school and social housing. Proven by thousands of realisations in Italy and abroad, it combines the advantages of prefabrication with maximum freedom of composition and design.

The Triedo is based on the use of a modular element (the trihedron) whose shape lends itself to infinite combinations. Formed by a portion of slab and two walls competing at a vertex, it is made from a single concrete casting so as to form a rigid structural element that does not require shoring during assembly.

The trihedron element is flanked by other elements which, by integrating with each other both in plan and in elevation, allow the widest possible composition possibilities. We work on a modular grid of 2.50 ml, having as constant elements the service block (triedro equipped bathroom-kitchen) and the staircase block; by exploiting the additionality, substitution and combinations between the individual two- and three-dimensional elements, the compositional schemes of the accommodation are quickly realised. The ‘basic’ compositional cell with plan dimensions of 10 x 10 m is realised through the aggregation of only six elements: four ‘trihedrons’ and two intermediate floor plates.

The service block is obtained by fitting a trihedron with the bathroom and kitchen element. On request, it is supplied complete with sanitary equipment and connections for water distribution and drainage. The balcony parapets, which are self-standing, are fitted by exploiting the angular shape. The external window frames are all unified (Art. 5 of Ministerial Decree 5-7-75). There are two types of stairs that fit into the module: one with a square plan with four flights, the other with a rectangular plan with two flights. The ‘L’-shaped foundation walls are positioned under the support lines of the ‘trihedral’ elements only.

This form of foundation guarantees the stability of the element making props or ties of any kind unnecessary during assembly. Completion works are simplified by making them completely independent of assembly operations, so that they can be carried out at a later date by specialised teams. Few elements with a high degree of finish are used, allowing standardised production and economical transport even over long distances. All vertical joints are eliminated.

The ‘Tried-and-true’ with its accessories is made in special formwork by casting a homogenous and compact concrete mix with a special inert material that meets the required thermal-acoustic coefficients and solves the buildings' overall statics.

Aggregation of four trihedrons and two intermediate slabs: a 100sq.m living quarters in six pieces.
Two residential units with opposing bathroom blocks in the central area of the building.
Multiple combinations possible. There is no limit to the repetitiveness of combinations or the possibilities of different pairings

The measurements of the Triedro are: 2.50 x 7.75 x h 2.95.

The basic element leaves the production plant already finished in the visible surfaces, and complete with balcony floor. the bathroom and kitchen elements, already finished with installations and complete with services and coverings, are ready to be connected to the main columns The external windows and doors are protected under the balcony-gable with the associated advantages for durability, maintenance and infiltration.
The triedro element, due to its specific design, allows for packaged storage. Thus, considerable stocks are realised with minimum space requirements. Transport of the element is permitted with normal vehicles, due to its special dimensions within the Highway Code and the specific weight of the mixture.

On-site assembly takes place with the dry assembly of the elements by means of crane trucks, allowing the construction of multi-storey buildings without the use of scaffolding and in a very short time (two dwellings per day), consequently reducing the incidence of on-site labour to about traditional methods. The system also lends itself extensively to traditional external finishing elements, with the use of materials and solutions that allow the building to fit into any environment.
